Urban planner.
Researcher. Writer.

Hello! Thank you for visiting.

I bring a passion for advancing equitable neighborhoods and sustainability through community engagement and participatory design. I have extensive experience in strategic planning and research, project management, land use, governance, and community-based organizations.

My engagement philosophy is that residents are the best experts for what is needed in their neighborhoods and that planners are the conduits helping to translate their ideas into policy through advocacy and education.

I’m most interested in urban/rural divides, land use, affordable housing, and labor.

I’m also a photographer.
From Yangon to Rio de Janeiro, Istanbul to Taipei, and places in between…

I document and write about how residents react to urban development changes and the historical forces that shape their cities, villages, and communities. My stories have been cited and published by ArtAsiaPacific, China Residencies, and Cornell Real Estate Review. Find out more about what stories, places, peoples, and objects I’m interested in exploring:

I’m an avid wildlife photographer and birder. I lead bird walks and am the co-founder of an environmental justice mutual aid group on IG: @plantsforthepeopleBK
